The Résidence Le Monarque is a non-profit organization that offers palliative care free of charge to residents from the Papineau RCM and to part of the Gatineau population since the fall of 2014.

Our residence has six beds and is partly financed by funds from the Department of Health, as well as donations from the community.

We offer accommodation, medical, hygiene and food services, as well as psychosocial counselling and spiritual assistance, in a friendly environment surrounded by our dedicated volunteers who care for our residents and their loved ones.

At the Résidence Le Monarque, family and loved ones are very important during the patient’s journey. They have a significant role and are chosen by the patient for this important life step. They are welcomed in a family environment, and their needs related to losing a loved one are heard and considered; our team is there to support them throughout this difficult time.

Health care and services are structured to respect the intimacy of the loved ones. They have the option to personalize the room for the patient, as well as stay overnight, if they desire. They are guided and encouraged to be involved in the health care of the patient, as well as journeying with them if they so desire.

Contemplation areas are available for them to be alone themselves, or with their family. These areas are essential to take a moment and recollect.

Following the patient’s passing, a counselling service is offered to the loved ones.
